Description
Areas of Applications:
- Concrete repair – spalled concrete, beams, columns, chajjas, slabs, parapet walls.
- Waterproofing – sunken portions of toilets and bathrooms, small roof terraces, chajjas, lift pits, balconies.
- Rendering and Plaster – Used as additive for renders and plasters.
- As a bonding agent – For bonding of new concrete to old concrete, plastering.
- Priming – As passivating primer for reinforcement steel.
Application Method:
A] Surface Preparation
- Clean the surface and remove all dust, unsound or contaminated material, loose plaster, oil, paint, grease corrosion deposits or algae.
- Where removal of concrete is not required roughen the surface and remove any laitance by light scabbling or grit blasting.
- Expose the fully corroded steel in the repair area and remove all loose scale and corrosion deposits. Steel should be cleaned to bright condition.
B] Application:
1. As Priming Coat for Steel
Apply one coat of Professor Seal – AcroBond EP / EP Eco mixed with cement (1:1 by volume) to all exposed reinforcement and allow it to dry. A second coat application is also recommended. Allow the surface to dry. The concrete surface should be thoroughly soaked with clean water prior to application of Professor Seal – AcroBond EP / EP Eco. Apply Professor Seal – AcroBond EP / EP Eco with brush or rollers on the substrate and avoid ponding and remove any excess material. The repair or toping application should be carried out whilst the primer is still tacky.
2. Renders and Plaster
Mix proportion – Portland cement: 50 kg Washed sand: 150 kg & Professor Seal – AcroBond EP / EP Eco: 20 litres. Sufficient water can be added to give the required consistency.
3. Bonding Slurry Coat / Waterproofing Coat
Mix Professor Seal – AcroBond EP / EP Eco with cement where extra adhesion is required. It is recommended to mix Professor Seal – AcroBond EP / EP Eco with cement in the ratio of 1:1 by volume. The same may also be used as waterproofing coating.
4. Curing
– Cure the repaired area by using Professor Seal – AcroBond EP / EP Eco to prevent rapid loss of water. In severe drying conditions additional curing methods may also be necessary. Protect uncured mortar from frost and rain.
